Quick Question

Somebody help me out with this... in the last couple of days, I've seen a fairly dramatic spike in my hits. This is unusual in and of its self (I usually hold steady at about 35-40 a day), but the really odd thing is that a great number of these "newcomers" seem to be finding the site by searching for information about the legendary on-court fight between 70's NBA stars Rudy Tomjonavich and Kermit Washington. I'd made a reference to it in a way, way earlier post that I'm too lazy to look up right now...

Anyway, my question is: Why the sudden interest (global interest, apparently) in that particular incident? Is it just because of the brawl at the Knicks game? Which, by the way, was the weakest excuse for a brawl outside of a heated JV-squad football shoving match.

Just curious.

That could quite possibly be it - sporty type people seem to be brawl-happy as of late.

Or it could just be the Great Magnet pulling them toward awesomeness. :P

Oh, you're sweet! What I figure, actually, is that the Tomjonavich/Washington fight must have gotten mentioned on ESPN or something.

Still odd, though.

Hi Clinton. I found you through the Sloth's site, which I had previously found through Gawker. Your comments on Sloth's posts were so amusing that I began reading your blog.

Denver, Knicks... I'm not really partial to either. Or basketball in general. More of a Baseball/Football sort of guy. I blame that on the fact that I grew up in the Dallas area when the Mavericks were the worst team in the NBA. Just never cared during my formitave years.

Anyway, I call it the "Knicks game" simply because I live in NYC.

Hi ZFS,
I was going to write the exact same thing Anonymous did (found you through Gawker, stayed because you're hysterical), but he/she did the work for me. So thanks to him or her! And thanks to you for the giggles. :)

Clint, yes the sudden interest is related to brawl, specifically the coverage on David Stern's "harsh" 15 game suspension of Carmelo Anthony. I read an article on ESPN that cited as a point of reference the 26 game suspension Washington got for punching Rudy Tomjanovuhcantspellitbutitsthatguythatcoachedhakeemolajuwahmmmnotsur ehowtospellthatoneeither.

Other... oh, no problem; the giggles come free with your purchase of a ZFS! Value Meal*. You did purchase a ZFS! Value meal, right? Because I'll call the cops. Sorry, what I mean is: Thanks for reading!!!

*The ZFS! Value Meal consists of a box of Cheeze-Its, four Tootsie Rolls found in a pair of pants I wore on Halloween and a pint of Clan McGregor whiskey. Not for kids. Or whatever
